Southwest Autism Research and Resource Center (SARRC) was established in 1997, SARRC is an internationally recognized nonprofit organization dedicated to autism research, education, evidence-based treatment, and community outreach.
First Place – Phoenix, SARRC’s first new property, is an innovative residential development that includes three major components: First Place-Phoenix is a nonprofit multi-family property for adults with autism and other special needs and abilities.
The location makes use of an infill parcel near public transit and represents a new residential prototype and national model, allowing greater choice for adults with special needs, based on individual needs and interests. First Place-Phoenix is focused on developing new supportive housing models that maximize independence, community integration, personal enrichment and quality of life by supporting adults with special needs to live more independently.
Lazarus & Silvyn worked with First Place-Phoenix to secure entitlements, obtain variances and a use permit to bring this vision to reality. First Place-Phoenix opened in 2018, is 55,800 square feet and is located at the northeast corner of 3rd Street and Catalina in downtown Phoenix.
